Please don’t Call me a Superstar: Mammootty

D2X 01654a87f2fd2f938 199x300 Please dont Call me a Superstar: MammoottyFans of Kerala’s favorite star, might adrress him as a Superstar or a Megastar, but looks like Mammootty, the object of all this adulation, doesn’t think highly of such terms. For, the actor himself has requested his audience, not to call him a Superstar!

In the contemporary scenario, the term ‘Superstar’ has assumed some sort of a negative connotation, feels the handsome hero. It means someone who is the root cause of many issues in the industry, and also someone who is against the entry of youngsters into films. Which is why, the actor takes objection to being referred to as a Superstar.

Mammootty does have some valid reason to complain. There have indeed been plenty of controversies surrounding the ‘Superstars’ recently. Veteran actor Thilakan  had lashed out against the Superstars of Malayalam films, saying that there was a hidden agenda against him. There were also allegations that the Superstar system was behind all the problems that prevailed in the industry. Just a few days back, Santhosh Pandit had also declared on a TV channel, that he was being hailed a Superstar by the public.

All this and more must have led one of the greatest actors Malayalam cinema has ever seen, to reconsider the term that has been bestowed on him. Quite justifiable, indeed.
