Born Shivaji Rao Gaikwad on the 12th of December 1950, the actor had done on to be one of the most adored stars that india has ever produced. His fan reach in the state of Tamil Nadu remains unparalleled, and even after several decades of his entry into films, his star status remains unquestioned.
There have been stars galore in the Tamil film industry, even before and after Rajinikanth, but none of them have managed to garner the popularity that Thalaivar has. He is also one of the most down-to-earth stars in the country, and his simplicity and impeccable ways have been much appreciated as well.
The health scare in 2011, that saw the actor travelling abroad to get state-of-the-art treatment, made news headlines, and had an entire population praying for his good health.
