Twenty Five Years Later, Surekha is Back!
Very few film viewers who had seen Bharathan’s ‘Thakara’, one of the master pieces in Malayalam cinema, would forget its heroine Subhashini and the actress who essayed that role – Surekha. The actress had gone on to become one of the busiest heroines of her times, and the 80′s would forever have Surekha as a prominent figure in film history as well.
It has been about twenty five years now, since Surekha bid adieu to the world of films, and now it looks as if the actress would finally be seen on screen again. Surekha has agreed to do a key role in the Johny Antony directed film ‘Masters’, the shooting of which is currently under progress.
Surekha says that its only on account of the huge support that she has received from her friends and family, that a comeback as this has been made possible. She has however not made it clear, if she is open to more acting offers.
‘Masters’ has Prithviraj and Tamil actor-director Sasi Kumar doing the lead roles. Its an action comedy thriller that is expected to set the cash registers jingling. Though its not yet know as to what character Surekha plays in the film, it has been reported that it’s one of the most important roles in the film.
