Focal Point – Dandelion (2004)
Dandelion is a 2004 film directed and co-written by Mark Milgard. It stars Vincent Kartheiser, Taryn Manning, Arliss Howard and Mare Winningham. The director of photography was Tim Orr.
The film is a coming of age drama, set in a small town dotted with beautiful landscapes. It’s here that 16 year old Mason Mullich lives in a world where he finds himself desolate. He meets Danny, a disturbed and coy girl, and what follows is a fatal accident and a series of complications that change their lives forever.
The film garnered a 67% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, whereas the Metascore on Metacritics is 62 (out of 100). The user rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 75%. It won the Jury Prize for Best Cinematography and Best Feature Film at the River Run International Film Festival (2004). It won the award for Independent Camera at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival as well. The film has the tagline ‘Everything begins somewhere’. It was shot on locations at Idaho.The MPAA rating was for drug and alcohol use, violent images, sexuality and language – all involving teens.
