Focal Point – The Killer Inside Me (2010)
The Killer Inside Me is a 2010film that was an adaptation of the 1952 novel of the same name by Jim Thompson. The film is directed by Michael Winterbottom and stars Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson, and Jessica Alba. Casey Affleck has been much appreciated by critics all around for his portrayal of the central character.
The film that told the story of a West Texas Deputy Sheriff being slowly revealed as a psychotic killer, was much discussed for its graphic depiction of extreme violence against women. As such it holds a 55% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes (from 97 reviews). On Metacrtic the User Score comes to 6.2 (out of 10).
The film is often described as a treatise on sadism and masochism. The film was rated R by the MPAA, for disturbing brutal violence, aberrant sexual content and some graphic nudity.
