Focal Point – Love and Human Remains (1993)

Love and Human Remains is a 1993 Canadian film that has been directed by Denys Arcand. The film is based on Brad Fraser’s stage play Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love. Fraser also wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation.

The film stars Thomas Gibson, Ruth Marshall, Cameron Bancroft, Mia Kirshner, Joanne Vannicola, Matthew Ferguson and Aidan Devine. Love and Human Remains has been termed a dark comedy about a group of twentysomethings looking for love and meaning in the ’90s.

Out of eleven reviews, the film holds a 64% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The User rating is at 67% (out of 856 ratings). The film was released on DVD by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film has a running time of one hour and forty minutes.

The film version follows the storyline of the original play almost closely. The film has been Rated R for strong sexual content, language, violence and some drug use by the MPAA.
