Aravaan Vasanthabalans Aravaan to tell Varipulis Tale!

Vasanthabalan, noted for his film ‘Angaditheru’ , is almost done shooting his new film ‘Aravaan’, that is one of the most eagerly anticipated films of 2012. The director who has wowed us with his first film, has set ‘Aravaan’ in the Madurai of 1310.

The art direction of the film is expected to have moved mountains, and at Ovvamalai, near Melur, a settlement of 100 houses was created, while another set was erected at Kongaimalai, near Tenkasi. The scene where buffalos are sacrificed are shot in dense forests in Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.  5,000 dhotis and 3,000 sarees specially made from Erode and Karur have been reportedly used to give it a historical feel.

The film is reportedly a period drama, based on Su. Venkatesan’s novel Kaaval Kottam. It stars Aadhi who plays a character by the name of Varipuli, Dhansika, Malayalam actress Archana Kavi and Pasupathy in the lead roles, with Kabir Bedi playing a prominent role, and Bharath appearing in a cameo role. The film that would also mark noted playback singer Karthik’s debut as a music director would be an early 2012 release.
