Mankatha (2011) Review Aggregator
Venkat Prabhu and Ajith coming together for the actor’s 50th film, and much was expected of ‘Mankatha’. The film has been released this Friday, and take a look at what the critics have to say about it. Reviews range from good to average.
Rediff says it works only because of Ajith: “Ajith, the star that he is, has carried practically the whole film on his capable shoulders — and he’s simply had a blast as the guy whose character sports negative shades. If Mankatha works even just a bit, it’s because of Ajith, whose charisma shines through. Watch it only for him. The rest really don’t matter.”
South Dreams sounds impressed: “On the whole, Mankatha has some slow moments during first half, but as the story proceeds during second half, it has gripping moments with an unexpected climax. With Sun Pictures vigorously promoting the film and no big contenders ahead, the film will go successfully.”
Filmics says this is ‘Wow’ stuff: “Venkat Prabhu scores! The passionate film maker has delivered yet another striking film with his team of boys. But, this time he has used that star power, and he stamps it that he is good in telling action-thriller too. Every frame speaks his hard work. A big pat on his back! He has a command over the script and the cast and crew.”
