Rowthiram (2011) Review Aggregator

Jiiva fans look like they are in for a disappointment. The star has had a release today with ‘Rowthiram’ and it was eagerly looked upon, if he would be able to repeat the Ko magic once again. From the reports and the reviews, Rowthiram seems to be headed the wrong way!

The film is a mindless masala, according to Rediff: It’s the meandering script, the trite dialogues and one-dimensional characters that wreck the pace. Add to that enormous plot-holes, and you have general mayhem. The audience begins hooting at every tragic scene. Rowthiram is just another mindless action masala, which is more torture than fury.”

Sify finds the film tedious: “Jiiva’s Rowthiram had it all, but somehow director Gokul’s story and direction fails to impress. With the emphasis being on the loud and melodramatic, Rowthiram suffers due to lack of originality and a proper script. The climax is not convincing for a film which is basically mass masala. At 2 hours 45 mints, it drags big time.”

Behindwoods is half pleased: “For a debut director, Gokul shows promise. He attempts to pack in his first film, romance and a lot of action and succeeds fairly. Some scenes are neatly done especially the family and the romance blocks. However, these are not sufficient to buoy the story up as there is inconsistency in the pace. Rowthiram has positives going in its favor. If the screen play had been more linear and taut, it would have made a huge impact.”
