Vaanam, written and directed by Krish, that is a remake of his 2010 Telugu film Vedam, features an ensemble cast of Silambarasan, Bharath, Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj and Saranya. The critics are pleased, from the looks of it.

Getcinemas looks all impressed: “Vaanam is a mixture of romance, family sentiment, action, thrill and comedy. Before it could be branded as just another Tamil movie, Vaanam clearly differentiates itself from the rest with its neat storyline, based on the reality of human life and the true meaning of life.”

Rediff finds it engaging: “Krish’s story has a lot of plus, and some good performances going for it. If you ignore the minor lapses, you’ve got a reasonably engaging story, and a moving climax.”

Southdreamz thinks the going should be strong for ‘Vaanam’: “Vaanam looks all set to become one of the most-talked-about films in 2011. It is an early bird in the unexplored multistarrer genre, the narration is totally new to Tamil cinema and finally, the message it delivers is strong.”
