Virodhi (2011) Review Aggregator

Submitted by on July 2, 2011 – 1:52 pmNo Comment | 15 views

Virodhi is Srikanth’s 103rd film that has been directed by Neelakanta Reddy. It also stars Kamalinee Mukherjee and Ajay in key roles. The film that was released on July 1, has received rave reviews.

Rediff says Virodhi is a hard hitting film: “Neelakantha portrays human emotions differently in every film. In Virodhi he has chosen the contemporary theme of Naxalism as the backdrop, against which the human drama is played out. The director has been careful not to take sides or espouse the Naxal philosophy, but remains neutral.”

Search Andhra has good words to say about the film: “Virodhi is a serious cinema and will appeal to the thinking students of films and critical cine buffs. Since the film is not in the commercial formula, it may not appeal to the regular audience of single screens. Even films with a message should have a mass appeal to spread the message.”

Oneindia feels the film presents the other side of the Naxal movement: “The story of the film revolves around Maoists. However, the director has not touched the Maoist philosophies but he has tried to highlight how some people are spoiling the movement for their selfish interests and to earn a leader image.”
