When the ’3 Idiots’ Speak Tamil
’3 Idiots’ is not a film that someone would forget in a hurry. The hilarious 2009 comedy film that was directed by Rajkumar Hirani, had rewritten box-office history.
Based on the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat, the film told the story of Farhan Qureshi (R. Madhavan), Raju Rastogi, (Sharman Joshi) and Rancchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad (Aamir Khan), three engineering students who shared a hostel room at the Imperial College of Engineering.
Years later, Farhan and Raju who have been leading successful lives, meet up and embark on a quest to find Ranccho who had disappeared without a trace.A remarkable film, that was brilliantly scruipted by Abhijat Joshi, it was only a matter of time before ’3 Idiots’ was remade in one of the South Indian languages. And it’s Tamil that the three adorable characters would now speak.
Super hot Tamil director S. Shankar is the man behind the remake titled ‘Nanban’, that would have Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth in the lead roles. Kareena Kapoor who played Pia in the original would be substituted by Ileana D’Cruz. The film is also expected to be simultaneously made in Telugu, with a slightly different cast. ‘Nanban’ is expected to release in October 2011 during the festive occasion of Diwali, and is expected to repeat the ’3 Idiots’ magic!
