Chala Mussaddi Office Office (2011) Review Aggregator
It wouldn’t be right to say that expectations regarding the Pankaj Kapur starrer Chala Mussaddi Office Office were not much. The film is more like an extension of the TV show Office Office that was well accepted, but the filmi version seems to have fallen flat on its face.
Rediff says this one is best avoided: “We don’t doubt the director’s noble intentions about exposing the rot which has become an integral part of our system due to corruption. It’s his stance of taking the ‘high road’ we object to. There is a fine line between a political satire and a value education class. Rajiv Mehra and script writer Ashwini Dhir seem to have missed the point on this one.”
Koimoi is all in agreement: “Ashwini Dhir’s story and screenplay are not as funny as they ought to have been. Although the serial was long-running and very popular, the film, with the same lovable characters, will not make much of an impact because the 20-minute story has been stretched so much that it loses charm. In fact, it will find the going at the box-office tough.”
And IBNLive thinks it gets way too preachy: “Chala Mussaddi Office Office is a feel-good attempt at pointing a finger at the convoluted labyrinths of the Indian bureaucracy and official paperwork but tends to get a tad bit preachy on the whole.”
