The Film Star Film Star (2011) Review Aggregator

Film Star that arrived a week late, hasn’t been able to strike up a fortune. The film that stars Dileep and Kalabahavan Mani along with Rambha and Mukta George has very few takers!

Nowrunning terms the film an utter disappointment: “What do you call a film that is terribly confused and actually not sure of what it wants to deliver? What would you term a film that is not sure of itself and that switches from one mode to the next, hoping all the while to eventually deliver the goods? You call it ‘Film Star’.”

Rediff finds Mani too loud in the film: “When the tag-line of a film says ‘the story of a real star’ you expect a bit of reality in the story or at least in the treatment. But, then, it’s folly to hope for realism in a film that has Kalabhavan Mani in the lead because the actor has created a niche for himself with his over the top acting and playing larger-than-life characters. So it is in his latest release The Film Star directed by Sanjeev Raj, scripted by Suresh Babu and co-starring Dileep.”

Sify terms it as below average: “Film star is another example of a new trend in Malayalam, where a saleable star’s presence is misused to get some big mileage. The stars who support such gimmicks are taking their popularity and the viewers who adore them, for a ride. Sad!”
