Ranjith, the master director has done it again, and this time with Prithviraj. The film that was released on Navratri seems a huge winner all the way.

Nowrunning says almost everything associated with the film is first-rate: “Ranjith’s Indian Rupee gets off to a slow start, but within no time zooms ahead, splendidly bursting out into a deadly final knock out. The details are downright gripping, the asides sparkling and the setups almost surreal, so much so that it hops straight into the year’s must-see movies list and scrambles right up to the top.”

Rediff finds it entertaining: “The mixture of reality and fantasy can create entertaining cinema, and director Ranjith proves this with his new film Indian Rupee.Indian Rupee should be seen by people who think that good stories have vanished from films. Ranjith has just told the story of contemporary Kerala society in a most interesting way.”

Sify found traces of melodrama in it, but says it should be seen nevertheless: “Though it is a bit too melodramatic and even preachy at times, Indian Rupee is easily one of the finest films of the year. It has honesty written all over it and such efforts need to be seen and appreciated by the audience. Two big thumbs up for this one!”
