Favorites from among Johnson’s compositions are aplenty, and among the several remarakably lilting tunes that he gifted us with, one stands out. ‘Swarnamukile.. Swarnamukile.. Swapnam Kaanaurundo..’ could only be listened to by music lovers in the state today, with a sense of irreparable loss.

A heart rending melancholic song, rendered in the Kaapi raaga by Janaki amma, the song was from the film ‘Ithu Njangalude Katha’, directed by P. G. Vishwambharan, that was released in 1982. The soulful lyrics of the song that went “Varsha Sandhya MaarivillinVarana Maalyam Theerkkumbol, Mooka Vedana Enthinaay Nee, Moodi Veypoo Jeevanil..”, were penned by P. Bhaskaran.
