Teja Bhai and Family (2011) Review Aggregator

Teja Bhai and Family directed by Deepu Karunakaran, and starring Prithviraj and Akila Sasidharan, was expected to be Prithvi’s launch vehicle into the comic caper genre. The film however, doesn’t seem to have fared that well, going by the critic opinions.

Nowrunning says that it just wanted to scream out loud, watching the film: “I am not sure if the term ‘mindless entertainment’ would be proud of associating itself with ‘Tejabhai and Family’. Stuck in Tejabhai’s den with a bunch of cacophonic characters, there was just one thing that I wanted to do – to scream out loud.”

Rediff calls it silly: “Prithviraj tries his best to be good at silly comedy, but the truth is that he has done better in the roles that incorporated humour as a intrinsic part of the character rather than in a film that is comedy for comedy’s sake. Final words: there was much riding for Prithviraj on Tejabhai and Family to prove his calibre in comic roles but he is just silly in this so-called comedy.”

Sify thinks its horrifyingly bad: “With the kind of backdrop of a don who disguises as a normal next door boy, we would imagine that the story could have been inspired from the Munnabhai series. We genuinely wish that it would have been better if the makers actually found some inspiration from any sensible movie. No such luck here, this one is horrifyingly bad!”
