Onam is perhaps the biggest event every year for the Malayalam film industry. Some of the best and eagerly anticipated films of the year are released during the festive season of the state every year. Which is why, there is a huge deal of anticipation associated with the Onam releases ever year.

The two Big M’s of the industry Mammootty and Mohanlal usually have an Onam release that are often pitted against each other. The battle is declared and the fight carried out in style. And one of them. emerge the winner. In 2011 however, Mammootty does not have a release for Onam, though Mohanlal would have a grand release of his latest film ‘Pranayam’.

‘Pranayam’ is undoubtedly the biggest release this Onam, and directed by Blessy, its a film that is being eagerly expected by all and sundry. ‘Pranayam’ has Jayaprada and Anupam Kher along with Mohanlal, and is touted to be Blessy’s best film as yet.

Running the race along with ‘Pranayam’ is Prithviraj’s ‘Tejabhai and Family’ that has been directed by Deepu Karunakaran. A host of young stars including Kunchacko Boban, Bhagath Manuel, Hemanth Menon, Bhavana, Ananya and Vidya Unni would be seen in ‘Dr. Love’ directed by Biju. Also gracing the screens this Onam would be ‘Sevenes’ directed by Joshey. Who will the Onam winner this year be? Let’s wait and see.
