What Makes the Bigg Boss Show Tick?

Submitted by on October 17, 2011 – 11:26 amNo Comment |

The fifth season of the Bigg Boss show is on at Colors, and from the looks of it, it’s a huge hit this time as well. The show that is based on the Big Brother format developed by Endemol. The show as well know, is about a few contestants, mostly celebrities spending about three months together in a house, away from family friends and the outer world. Bigg Boss, who communicates with them through his voice, is their only link with the outer world.

The house has no TV connection, no phones, Clocks, Internet, pen or paper. Each week contestants vote out a couple of them at least to be evicted from the house. The eviction depends on the SMS count of the viewers. It often so happens, that the atmosphere in the house gets so tense, that outbursts of contestants become common.

We have been wondering what it is, that makes the Bigg Boss show click. Perhaps its the voyeur in each one of us, that makes this show a huge success. Being able to keep our eyes fixed on a few people who despite knowing that they are being watched are never able to be at their best behavior, gives us a kind of high, that sends the TRPs shooting up.

This year’s show is on at full swing, and we have already had two evictions. The show stopper, if one can call her that, has already emerged – Pooja Mishra, who has made life a hell for the rest of the contestants with verbal, as well as a bit of physical violence. Bitching is on, back stabbing is on, and cut throat rivalry is on. The battle is on, and these men and women who would stop at  nothing, has made it sure that the gallery is full; this time as well!
