Kalabhavan Mani surrenders before the police!

Prithviraj is real glad at the winds of change that have been blowing across the Malayalam film industry for a while now. In an interview with a prominent Malayalam women’s magazine, the actor said that it was indeed welcome that the audience has begun to react positively to experiments in Malayalam cinema.

Prithvi quoted the example of the film ‘Ee Adutha Kaalathu’ and asked if we could have believed that such a film would have earned the acclaim and the box office success that it did, a few years back. He added that our cinema would benefit immensely from such films having a successful run, and some not-so-fine films being accorded the fate that they deserve.

Prithviraj feels that director Ranjith has brought about a sea change in Malayalam films. He reminds us that Ranjith was a director who was quite successful scripting a particular kind of cinema, and yet could say ‘Not any more’ when he felt that he has had enough. Prithvi also added that he intends to follow Ranjith’s example in this regard.
