The Prem Nazir statue might remain a dream!

Submitted by on May 29, 2012 – 2:32 pmNo Comment | 67 views

Fans of the legendary actor Prem Nazir who might have been thrilled hearing that the Government had plans to put up the statue of the actor might be disappointed. Looks like the statue might not after all become a reality since a few Muslim associations have objected to the plan.

The Muslim Jamaath Council has asked the Government to go back on its decision to put up the statue since they claim that building a statue of a believer in Islam was against its principles, Council President P M S Attakoya Thangal and General Secretary Advocate E Pookkunju made it clear in a statement.

They said that a Cultural Center in memory of the actor would be more appropriate, if the intention is to commemorate the contributions of the evergreen hero, who is no more. It was just the other day that Chief Minister Oomen Chandy had announced that ten lakh rupees would be spent on creating the statues of both Prem Nazir and Sathyan.
