Happy Birthday, Urvasi!
Malayalam cinema in the 80′s and 90′s had produced many actresses of great caliber, the most prominent of whom is Urvasi.The much acclaimed and much loved actress celebrates her birthday on the 25th of June. Balcony Beats wishes Urvasi a very happy birthday!
Urvasi, whose original name is Kavitha Ranjini, started her film career in the 80′s. ‘Munthanai Mudichchu’, directed by K. Bhagyaraj, was her first film. ‘Ethirppukal’ is considered to be her first film in Malayalam. Ever since, she has acted in innumerable Malayalam films, and her performance in films like ‘Thalayanamanthram’, ‘Mazhavilkavadi’, ‘Kaakathollayiram’, ‘Malootty’ and ‘Utsavamelam’ will be remembered for ever.
Urvasi has two sisters, Kalaranjini and Kalpana, who are also acclaimed actresses. On the personal front, Urvasi hasn’t been as lucky. She had got married to actor Manoj K Jayan in 2000, and eight years later their marriage ended in a divorce. They have a daughter Kunjatta for the custody of whom a legal battle is currently on between Urvasi and Manoj.
