SC grants relief to Madhur Bhandarkar in Preeti Jain rape case
Madhur Bhandarkar should be a relieved man! The Supreme Court has granted relief to the Bollywood director in the Preeti Jain rape case, and has thereby stayed the proceedings against him. And not just that, Pretti Jain, who had filed a case of rape against Bhandarkar, was also issued a notice by the apex court.
It was way back in July 2004, that Preeti Jain had accused the National award winning director of having raped her, after promising her of a lead role in one of his upcoming films. And in September 2005, Preeti Jain herself was arrested for purportedly seeking the services of a contract killer for Rs.70,000 to assassinate Bhandarkar.
Madhur Bhandarkar is best known for his films such as Chandni Bar (2001), Page 3 (2005), Traffic Signal (2007), and Fashion (2008). He won the National Award for Best Director for Traffic Signal. He is currently shooting for his latest film ‘Heroine’ that stars Kareena Kapoor in the title role.
