Son of Sardar (2012) Hindi Movie Review Aggregator

Controversies can rest for a while, as ‘Son of Sardar’ makes it to the theatres this Diwali, along with SRK’s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. Starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Juhi Chawla and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles, the film that has been directed by Ashwani Dhir has opened well. But this is what critics thought of the film.

The Times of India doesn’t think it’s the baap of entertainment: “Alas in this action comedy, the action lacks innovation and the comedy lacks permanence. With action having its limitations, one expects more from the humour quotient but the fun starts just in the pre-interval portions and dissipates soon in the second half. After that the plot keeps beating around the bush with overblown action and underwhelming humour.”

NDTV Movies calls it a tangled mess: “When a movie tries too hard to be funny and the effort shows in every frame, it only ends up being an unintentional joke rather than a genuine laugh riot. Son of Sardaar is one such abomination.”

Nowrunning says it gets mired by cliches and formuale: “Son of Sardaar gets mired by cliches and formulas. In a bid to make for a mass entertainer it ends up being banal and mundane. Those who appreciate over the top, loud and raucous gags may enjoy this one too.”
