Rock of Ages is an American musical film directed by Adam Shankman. The film is an adaption of the 2006 Chris D’Arienzo comedy rock/jukebox Broadway musical of the same name. The film that stars country singer Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta with an ensemble cast including Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti, Malin Åkerman, Bryan Cranston, with Alec Baldwin and Mary J. Blige, has opened to good reviews in the Indian subcontinent.

Rediff says Tom Cruise rocks out in ‘Rock of Ages’: “Rock of Ages is like digging into a scrumptious chocolate croissant. Take out the sinful goodness of the rich Tom Cruise filling and you’re left with only bland crumbs of bread.”

IBN Live says the film is worth a watch: “Rock of Ages is far from perfect. But the actors appear to be having a good time, and the enthusiasm is infectious. I’m going with three out of five for director Adam Shankman’s Rock of Ages. For the music alone, this one’s worth a watch. Wanna bet you’ll come out humming the tunes?”

The Times of India is all impressed: “Don’t go looking for a great plot and something you have never seen before. Of course, making up for that is the setting of the then LA, generously peppered with Rock’s greatest anthems… featuring the music by Poison, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Guns N’ Roses, Journey, Foreigner… and many more….”
