The sky literally seems to be falling down, given the thunderous response that the latest Bond movie has generated across the world. Here is what the Indian critics have to say about the film.

Rediff says its the best Bond film in decades: “Skyfall is, at heart, a crowdpleaser. The first three Bond greats — Dr No, Goldfinger and From Russia With Love — were like big-band flourishes, clever and symphonic and throbbing with energy: jazz, played loudly and fearlessly. Sam’s film, which deserves actually to be the first of at least three, isn’t as resonant or as original, but it is fabulously refreshing and light enough to have heads bobbing along, chorally humming the theme.”

IBN Live this Bind film gets so much right: “In Skyfall, Sam Mendes, the Oscar-winning director of American Beauty, has delivered a thrilling addition to the 007 movie legacy, and a film that strikes just the right balance between familiarity and freshness.”

Zee News emphasizes that Sam Mendes is the man: “Sam Mendes, the director of the latest James Bond film, plays with your mind with his films. He had done it in ‘American Beauty’ and ‘The Revolutionary Road’ and now he does it in ‘Skyfall’, albeit through the antagonist. In spite of having slick gadgets, the best secret agent on board, Mendes evolves a story which is heavily dependent on psychological mind games- where each character has an internal battle to fight.”
