Rediff calls it stereotypical: “Prakash Toleti’s Telugu film Naa Ishtam gives Rana Daggubati an opportunity for the first time to indulge in dancing and action besides, of course, some romance The film begins well but soon loses momentum and the audience’s interest.”

The Hindu says the film is enjoyable, but in parts: “Naa Ishtam is enjoyable in parts and Chakri’s music deserves a mention. The second half has too many loose ends to overlook.”

Zust Movies gives it a thumbs down: “A movie with a repeated story with a few twists and turns including a direction that has gone haywire seems to be its huge negative aspect. The director also failed in unfolding the story smoothly to the audiences.”
