Submitted by on April 20, 2012 – 9:48 amNo Comment |

The summer of 2012, would see the ‘Lucky Red Seeds’, (Manjadikkuru), dropping down the screens of Kerala. It has been such a long time since we have been hearing wonderful things about director Anjali Menon’s debut feature film ‘Manjadikkuru’. Though the film was yet to grace the screens, we got to see Anjali’s short film ‘Happy Journey’ in the ‘Kerala Cafe’ anthology, that made us all the more excited to find out what her debut film was all about.

Looks like the long wait has finally come to an end, and ‘Manjadikkuru’ would soon be making it to the theatres. Starring Prithviraj, Rahman, Urvashi, Thilakan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Bindu Panickar, Kaviyoor Ponamma, Praveena and Sindhu Menon, the film has been produced by Little Films.

The film has had a dream run at film festivals both inside the country and abroad and has won several awards and accolades all over. Some recognitions that have been handed over to the film include, the Best Indian Debut Director Award instituted by Mira Nair at the IFFK, the FIPRESCI Award by the International Federation of Film Critics, the Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay and Best Emerging Talent Awards at the South Asian International Film Festival, US, a Certificate of Appreciation at the Schlingel International Film Festival, Germany and the Best Directorial Debut by a Woman Award at the New Jersey NJISACF, US.
