Asuravithu (2012) Review Aggregator

A K Sajan’s action thriller ‘Asuravithu’ that tells the story of a seminarian who takes on the under world of Cochin has been received coldly by the critics. While some feel that it is half baked, some others feel disappointed that it refuses to move away from conventions.

Nowrunning found just the ending interesting: “Perhaps the only optimistic thing in an otherwise disappointing start to 2012, is the suggestion that it doesn’t always end bad. There is life beyond revenge; and there might even be life beyond a real miserable ending.”

Rediff calls it a bad sequel to Stop Violence: “Written and directed by A K Sajan, Asuravithu stars the promising young actor Asif Ali, who has experimented with a wide range of roles in his short career. Final words: There was a lot riding for Asif on Asuravithu. Sadly, the film doesn’t help him much.”

India Glitz is not impressed with its predictability: “The story of angry young man, taking the odds of the otherwise harmonious society has been the theme that created many superstar avatars in filmdom. Following every conventions of that underworld movies, ‘Asuravithu’ provides the basics for a big star launch, but fails with its predictability and unripe star at its helm.”
