Censor woes hound ‘Papilio Buddha’; director cries foul

Submitted by on September 12, 2012 – 8:48 pmNo Comment | 59 views

The Malayalam film ‘Papilio Buddha’ that has been directed by Jayan Cherian and produced by Prakash Bare has run into Censor trouble ever since the CBFC – the Central Board of Film Certification – took offence at a few scenes in the film that allegedly insulted Gandhi.

The film which dwells on a group of displaced Dalits in the Western Ghats, has used a realistic portrayal of the struggle of a population and Indian – American film maker Jayan Cherian has voiced his protest against his film being denied a certificate by the board.

Producer Prakash Bare is quite disappointed with the decision of the board as well. Thambi Antony, Padmapriya and Kallen Pokkuden are the key actors in the film.
