Cheran might make a Tamil ‘Manjadikkuru’!
Anjali Menon’s ‘Manjadikkuru’ that has earned wide acclaim all over might just be remade in Tamil by director – actor Cheran. Cheran had reportedly expressed a desire to remake the film, since he was all impressed by what he saw on screen, and also because the film has a universal appeal.
Details regarding the rest of the cast and crew are being finalised. Starring Prithviraj, Rahman, Urvashi, Thilakan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Bindu Panickar, Kaviyoor Ponamma, Praveena and Sindhu Menon, ‘Manjadikkuru’ has been produced by Little Films.
The film has had a dream run at film festivals both inside the country and abroad and has won several awards and accolades all over. Some recognitions that have been handed over to the film include, the Best Indian Debut Director Award instituted by Mira Nair at the IFFK, the FIPRESCI Award by the International Federation of Film Critics, the Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay and Best Emerging Talent Awards at the South Asian International Film Festival, US, a Certificate of Appreciation at the Schlingel International Film Festival, Germany and the Best Directorial Debut by a Woman Award at the New Jersey NJISACF, US.
