Cobra (2012) Review Aggregator

Lal’s Mammootty film ‘Cobra’ that has been released yesterday has been drawing in tremendous crowds no doubt. The film stars Padmapriya and Kaniha as the female leads along with Lalu Alex, Maniyanpillai Raju and Salim Kumar. Critics however sounds displeased.

Nowrunning demands that Vava Suresh be called without delay: “When you sense that the film you are about to see, plans to tell you a story of twin brothers separated at birth, the warning bell goes off. Somebody call Vava Suresh right now. There is a silly ‘Cobra’ on the loose, and the earlier he grabs this frighteningly unfunny serpent the better.”

Rediff terms it as recycled fare: “Cobra, starring Mammootty and Lal is the big release of this weekend. It offers nothing much to the discerning viewer and just cashes in on the actors’ star image. Directed by Lal himself, Cobra tells the story of non-identical twins who are nothing better than street rogues. And altogether Cobra is a tedious experience.”

Sify feels the film is strictly for Mammootty fans: “‘Cobra’ is evidently a botched up version of the conventional recipes, which have long been regarded as the necessary ingredients for a hit. But the problem is that this one comes at least a decade after such patterns have gone out of the viewer’s interests. This one is perhaps tailor made for hardcore Mammootty fans only!”
