B Unnikrishnan’s ‘Grand Master’ that stars Mohanlal in the lead role has been released. It has Priyamani in the lead role opposite Mohanlal. The film has managed to garner good to average reviews.

Rediff thinks Mohanlal has done a good job: “B Unnikrishnan takes the easy route of planting the seed of suspicion on everyone who appears on the screen, except the hero, leading to a lame and rather exaggerated climax. One thing worth rejoicing in here is the presence of Mohanlal. His well tempered performance keeps us engrossed, if not in the general proceedings, at least in what he is up to next. “

Sify says it keeps you engaged: “If you start mulling over the storyline and the contents, there is nothing great to rave about, but with slick visuals and good style, the director packages the film in a fast paced manner. The narration is pretty old fashioned and the lines often sound clichéd, but there are some real nice moments in between.”

Nowrunning feels you could watch it for Mohanlal: “The star does tower over the script at times, and ‘Grand Master’ is one such occasion. There is only one reason why you should watch ‘Grand Master’, which is Mohanlal. I do however agree that he’s more than enough reason.”
