I regret having associated myself with ‘Naayika’: Deedi Damodaran

Submitted by on September 8, 2012 – 3:32 pmNo Comment |

Script writer Deedi Damodaran, feels that associating with a film like ‘Naayika’ was a mistake. “I wanted to portray the plight of yesteryear film actresses, but unfortunately, my idea was subjected to manipulations,” revealed Deedi recently.

‘Naayika’ was directed by Jayaraj, and starred Jayaram and Padmapriya in the lead roles. The film was also in the news since veteran actress Sharada returned to Malayalam films after a long while to essay the title role of an actress past her prime.

The film, when released, however, failed to live up to the huge expectations that it had raised. It did not do well at the box office, and was not well received by the critics either. The songs of the film were well received though, and the film won the State Award for Best Lyrics.
