Kunjaliyan (2012) Review Aggregator

Submitted by on January 9, 2012 – 3:26 pmNo Comment |

Saji Surendran’s first film of the year, ‘Kunjaliyan’ that stars Jayasurya in the tile role has been released. The film that has been scripted by Krishna Poojappura seems to have started off the year on a wrong note for Jayasurya. This is what the critics felt about the film!

Rediff states that ‘Kunjaliyan’ has no substance: “Not much is demanded of Jayasurya in portraying Jayaraman. The writer-director team of Krishna Poojappura and Saji Surendran base their winning formula on low-brow humour. But Kunjaliyan, Jayasurya’s first outing after a strong performance-based Beautiful, is a disappointment.”

Nowrunning doesn’t see anything funny about the film: “‘Kunjaliyan’ is more of a chore really, and what’s missing in it are several things – plausibility, surprise elements and above everything else, some good, classy humor. Not my idea of a fun outing, this.”

Sify wonders how this film got to be made: “What was scenarist Krishna Poojappura and director Saji Surendran thinking about when they first toyed with the plot of this shockingly absurd drama called Kunjaliyan? Even more surprising, how did they convince the producer, the actors and the technicians to be part of this buffoonery?”
