Mayamohini (2012) Review Aggregator
Jose Thomas’s ‘Mayamohini’ that has Dileep playing the title role has had a fantastic opening at the box office. But the critics don’t sound that pleased. Here is what they have to say about the film.
Rediff thinks its sub-standard fare: “Whenever Dileep hits a lean patch, he uses his skills as a mimicry artist to bounce back. Mayamohini is sub-standard fare. It may have the ingredients for a box office success, targeting the vacation crowd, but there is hardly anything here for the thinking viewer.”
Nowrunning agrees and adds that it doesn’t hold much significance apart from the slapstick: “I doubt if ‘Mayamohini’ is in any way going to contribute to comedic posterity. Perhaps there never was an intention to do so either. It’s a bloated and lazily plotted film that should work for you, if you are in the mood for some gender-bending jokes and slapstick fun.”
Don’t think too much, and you might enjoy this one, says Sify: “Director Jos Thomas’ Mayamohini, is light and easy and enjoyable for the most part, as Dileep plays Biju Menon’s wife. In a fast moving storyline with plenty of twists and turns, Siby K Thomas-Udayakrishna scripting pattern never really expects the viewer to think too much.”
