Mr. Marumakan’, directed by Sandhya Mohan, and starring Dileep, Sanusha, Khushboo and Sheela in the lead roles has been released. Critics have totally panned the film.

Nowrunning says that this fun-in-law is no won-in-law: “They call him fun-in-law, Mr. Marumakan, and he takes you to Bollywood, a good twenty years back. The film tries to get away with the trite story that it tells with some rancid jokes that would make anyone want to become a run-in-law.”

Rediff calls it crude: “It is agreed that this is not a thinking person’s film, so, we cannot hope for finesse or structural cohesiveness. But, here it is done away with totally and focusses on episodic high points as if it is a never-ending TV serial. it is a typical Dileep film, not one expected from someone who is recently honoured as the Best Actor by the Kerala State Government.”

Sify says its strictly for Dileep fans: “No beating around the bush. Mr Marumakan is as archaic as formula is to films and it is packaged as an old-school masala potboiler aimed at Dileep fans. It is exaggerated and formulaic, but relies squarely on the charm of its leading man to pull off its over-the-top tone.”
