Sathyan Anthikad’s new film ‘Puthiya Theerangal’ that stars Nivin Pauly and Namitha Pramod in the lead roles, has been released. The film has opened to average to below average reviews all over. Here is what the critics have to say about it.

Nowrunning says no new shores seem to be in sight: “I presume that the title of the new Sathyan Anthikad film ‘Puthiya Theerangal’ is all about the new shores that men find themselves at, as life goes on, never pausing for a moment. It however, has nothing to do with innovation and tells a tale that is as old as the seas themselves.”

Rediff thinks it has nothing new to offer: “Almost everything that has to happen happens in the first half of the film and the second half, disappointingly, just wraps things up in a jiffy, with a few twists and turns. Not to mention silly holes in the plot.”

Sify feels that this is a lazy effort from the director: “Puthiya Theerangal has nothing new about it and ends up as a meek affair. With clichéd situations and half-baked characters, the film is a lazy effort from one of Kerala’s most popular directors ever.”
