Asianet is all set to start its full time cinema channel with Asianet Movies. The test beaming of the channel is already on, while it will be officially launched on the 15th of July.

It has been reported that Asianet Movies would air not only Malayalam films, but also Tamil, Hindi, English and even other language films. Earlier it was reported that the channel giant had plans to launch a comedy channel, but nothing was heard of it later.

In terms of viewership, Asianet is often regarded as the most popular Malayalam-language television channel. Asianet was the first privately owned television channel in Malayalam and the second to broadcast in the language. There would be  four channels under Asianet when Asianet Movies starts its telecast, Asianet, Asianet Plus and Asianet News being the other three.
