The latest news on ‘Maatran’ is that the film has been slated for an Independence Day release in 2012. Come August 15, and Suriya’s much anticipated film would make it to the theatres. The biggie has been reported to have been shot on a grand scale, which makes it one of the hottest Tamil projects at the moment!

‘Maatraan’ is a Tamil action thriller film directed and co-written by K  V Anand and which has been scripted by Subha. It stars Suriya in the lead role, and the actor is said to portray two different roles, that of a hero and a villain, while Kajal Aggarwal will be the heroine.

Eros International has bagged the theatrical rights of the film. The film has no dearth of jaw-drop inducing locales, and the viewers would get to see scenes canned at Russia, Croatia, Serbia, Albania and Macedonia, besides several locations across India. Now if that isn’t reason enough for celebration for Suriya fans, we wonder what is!
