Rediff says it starts off well, but simmers eventually: “Someone asked me if Talaash was a watchable film, and indeed it is. It’s better put together than a lot of the films we see here, and definitely strongly acted, but ends up so, so much less enjoyable than it deserved to be.”

IBN Live feels its a very watchable film but not an unforgettable one: “Its shortcomings notwithstanding, it’s a good example of an entertaining commercial film that didn’t need to be lazy or senseless. Don’t miss it; easily one of the better films this year.”

The Times of India is impressed: “ Talaash belongs to the genre of cinema noir of which there are few examples in recent times. This film is a good attempt at revisiting suspense flicks that were a huge craze in the 50-60s.”

Rediff says it does not rise above the superficial: “This is a subject of vast possibilities and sure-shot entertainment but there’s nothing innovative about Heroine. It’s more of a stylist’s dream given the gorgeous range of designer clothes and edgy make-up Kareena sports in the movie. As always Bhandarkar intersperses the frames with backbiting industry types holding a drink in hand and fake smile on lips, philandering actors, haughty star wives, catty co-stars, snooping journalists, shrewd politicians and ruthless agents.”

DNA India adds that its a boring take on the film industry: “Heroine, though, is not just like Fashion, but resembles every film Bhandarkar has ever made before, and in the most terrible way. In other words, if you take every bad moment in every Bhandarkar film ever made, put them together in a two-and-a-half-hour long loop, the result will be a lot less distressing and a lot more entertaining than Heroine.”

NDTV Movies agrees totally: “The foremost problem with Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine is that behind its gossamer exterior, it is weighed down by banalities that don’t quite add up. In conveying the ebbs and tides of the life of a self-obsessed, impulsive and troubled Bollywood diva, the film taps into the tropes that constitute the Bhandarkar formula. The novelty has worn off. So, all that the audience is left with is an overwhelming sense of déjà vu.”

The  film directed, written, and co-produced by Madhur Bhandarkar revolves around the life of a once successful film actress, Mahi Arora, whose career is on the decline.

The film features Kareena Kapoor as the protagonist along with actors Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda and Rakesh Bapat. Kareena is said to have come up with a career best performance in ‘Heroine’. Additionally, the project also stars Shahana Goswami, Divya Dutta, Helen, Shillpi Sharma, Mugdha Godse and Lillete Dubey in supporting roles.

The film has been produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Madhur Bhandarkar under the banners of UTV Motion Pictures and Bhandarkar Entertainment.

“Busy on #Jhalak yesterday. Shot two episodes! Met with cast of Barfi, Ranbir and Priyanka. Kareena also there for Heroine. Met Eleana for the first time. She is very sweet. Had a great time with all of them,’ she tweeted.

Madhuri herself is on a comeback trail to Bollywood, and would start shooting for her films ‘Desh Ishqiya’ and ‘Gulaab Gang’ shortly.

Kareena is quite excited about the role that she plays in ‘Heroine’ and hopes that her efforts will pay off. The actress has been reported to have gone out of her way to see to it that her essayal of the Bollywood heroine is perfect.

The film has been directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and also stars Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda in key roles. The film will be out pretty soon.

Looks like the much discussed wedding will after all take place in October 2012. It was Sharmila Tagore, Saif’s mom who revealed the other day to the media that the wedding would happen in October!

Sharmila also added that the Saifeena wedding would be a small private affair. However it should be remembered that even earlier Sharmila had revealed the same to the media, but Saif Ali Khan had not offered a confirmation.
